On Friday 21st September, Leicester’s King Power Stadium held The Big Band Ball. Hosted by St. James's Place Wealth Management and the St. James's Place Charitable Foundation, the ball was an evening of fantastic entertainment as well as raising vital funds for Rainbows. The Leicestershire based charity offers support and care for children with life threatening or life limiting illnesses and the funds raised continue to support the work done by the charity at their Loughborough hospice.
The evening was hosted by former World Senior Masters Snooker Champion, Willie Thorne. Having retired from professional snooker, Willie is an established television personality and has appeared on popular BBC shows like ‘Strictly Come Dancing’, ‘Sports Relief’ and ‘Ready Steady Cook’ as well as ITV’s ‘Celebrity Mr and Mrs’. A regular snooker commentator for all major snooker championships across the BBC, ITV and Sky, Willie Thorne was on hand to make sure that everything went smoothly for the glamorous event.
With a huge silent auction taking place throughout the evening, television antiques expert and talented auctioneer Charlie Ross conducted the evening’s live auction. Charlie Ross has worked at many top events, including auctions at the British and Monaco Formula 1 Grand Prix. Having run his own auction house for 20 years, Charlie was the perfect choice to ensure that the Big Band Ball live auction was a successful and exciting part of the evening. Both the silent and live auctions raised money for Rainbows, adding to the important funds raised at this glamorous evening.
The entertainment didn’t stop with Willie Thorne and Charlie Ross. Soul man, Andy Abraham brought the evening to life with his musical prowess. The X Factor runner up put his amazing voice to good use, performing with a fabulous 13 piece big band. His soulful voice will be taking the audience on a trip down memory lane to when the big band was king and every dance hall was filled with sound of the timeless classics that Andy will be performing.
St. James's Place Wealth Management has established the St. James's Place Charitable Foundation as a charitable sector of the organisation. The foundation works to raise important funds for different charities, ensuring that help is given to those in need as a result of disadvantage, disability or illness. A large proportion of the St. James’s Place staff make monthly contributions to the foundation. The St. James's Place Charitable Foundation is so proud to be able to raise funds for Rainbows at the Big Band Ball, continuing the charity’s dedicated work for children and young people with serious illnesses.
The Big Band Ball was a sparkling evening of fantastic entertainment, with exciting auctions, and amazing musical entertainment from Andy Abrahams. Guests enjoyed a delicious three course dinner, adding the final ingredient to a recipe for success. The St. James's Place Charitable Foundation was thrilled to be able to continue raising funds for the Rainbows Charity, supporting its hospice care for children and young people.
